You may have noticed the water bottle memes. The Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is running for President of the United States in 2016, and he has his own group on campus, CUA Students for Rubio (CUA SFR). This group is part of a larger organization under the national Rubio presidential campaign, DC Students for Rubio. The purpose of the CUA chapter is similar to that of all other SFR groups around the country: to create a network of college students that could help energize students around The Marco Rubio 2016 Presidential Campaign. The CUA SFR group participates in educating students on campus about Marco Rubio and promoting his policies and beliefs to others through social media and word of mouth.

Marco Rubio was born in Miami, Florida to Cuban immigrants. He attended Tarkio College for a year on a football scholarship but later enrolled at Santa Fe Community College. He eventually graduated from the University of Florida in 1993 with a degree in political science. In 1996, he graduated from University of Miami School of Law in 1996. One point that Rubio stresses along his campaign trail is that he had to pay off over $100,000 in student loans. He finally paid off his debt in 2012. He says that this experience has encouraged him to strive to make college affordable for Americans seeking university degrees.

Marco Rubio, at just forty-four years old, is a presidential candidate for the Republican party. He is a pro-life, Roman Catholic man who is dedicated to making a New American Century. He believes in securing the border between the United States and Mexico to prevent illegal immigration, but he also believes in a “path to citizenship” for illegal immigrants. He opposes laws to combat climate change and he believes in the traditional definition of marriage. He also wants to loosen government regulation and reduce taxes. Marco Rubio envisions an America where the American Dream is possible again, and every American citizen has an opportunity to achieve his or her dream.
