Enjoying the Last Two Weekends of Summer in DC

While the summer weather doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon, the season of summer is quickly coming to an end. On September 21st, we say goodbye to summer (at least until next year). Here are some things to do around Washington, D.C. as the season closes out.
CUA vs. Georgetown at Georgetown
The Catholic University football team is playing Georgetown University on Saturday, September 14th at p.m. at Georgetown. The game is being held at Cooper Field and tickets are being sold for $10 online and at the gate. Swing by the game to show off your school spirit!
H Street Festival
The H Street Festival is being held on Saturday, September 21st from 12 to 7 p.m. at 800 H Street NE Washington, D.C. 20002. More than 250 vendors will be in attendance with food, drinks, music, and kids’ activities. Register online at Eventbrite.
DC Wine Fest!
The DC Wine Fest! Fall Edition is being held Saturday, September 14th from 12 to 10 p.m. at the National Union Building on F Street. Stop by the Wine Fest for wine, live music, art, and food. Tickets are available to $35 to $60 on Eventbrite.
Taste of Georgetown
This year’s Taste of Georgetown is being held on Sunday, September 22nd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival is located at K Stree between Wisconsin Avenue and Thomas Jefferson Street NW. Tickets are available online for $24 to $45 for food, wine, and beer tastings provided by various restaurants around Georgetown.
Monroe Street Market Farmers Market
For a local weekend activity, stop by the Monroe Street Farmers Market at the Arts Walk in Brookland weekly on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shop fresh foods from local vendors and farmers while listening to live music right off of CUA campus.
National Arboretum
The National Arboretum is open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 446-acre arboretum is the ideal location for a late-summer stroll or a quick photoshoot. Admission is free.
Nats vs. Braves
The Nationals are playing the Braves this weekend. Tickets are available for Saturday, September 14th at 4:05 p.m. or Sunday, September 15th at 1:38 p.m. at Nationals Park.
Picnic at Gravelly Point
Gravelly Point is a park located in Arlington, just north of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on George Washington Memorial Parkway in Arlington. Gravelly Point is known for its views of airplanes flying in and out of the airport overhead and is the perfect spot for an afternoon picnic or photoshoot on the lawn.
Go for a hike in the DMV area
Although CUA is in the middle of a very urban setting, there are still plenty of places in the DMV area to get some fresh air and take advantage of nature around us. Here is a list of some popular hiking trails in the area.
However you decide to spend the last few weeks of summer, be sure to make the most of the warm weather before the snow days start to roll in.
