Many across the nation will sit down on Sunday to watch their football team try and win, though lately many have started to sit down and think that the game has a winner already determined beforehand and that play-by-play the players are working to reach the scripted end of the game. You may be asking yourself why the National Football League (NFL) would script their games, but don’t worry – the theory has provided you an answer: views.
Many fans believe that the NFL scripts their games to get more views and keep fans watching until the last minute in order to make more money. This plays into the upcoming Super Bowl that is happening on February 9. Fans believe that you will know what teams are going to the Super Bowl when they release the logo because the NFL will use the colors of the teams that they have already determined are going to play in that year’s Super Bowl. Now, this theory has brought about a lot of confusion because they wouldn’t just start rotating the teams so that eventually every team wins a Super Bowl, or wait long enough to make it look like the underdog won the game.
Many think that this is not what they do. As of recently, many believe that the NFL is partial to keeping the Kansas City Chiefs playing and on-screen as much as possible ever since tight end Travis Kelce started to date popstar, Taylor Swift. Once this relationship was made public and Swift started to attend games regularly, many NFL fans speculated that they would keep them until the end so that they could capitalize on Swift’s fan base as well. They use the evidence of the fact that they will show Swift when attending games, they will use her audio on the post, and many think they draw too much attention to her when she is present. Since that has brought a lot of Swifties to watch the games they believe that they are scripting the Chiefs games so that they end up in the Super Bowl. In addition, not only does this allow for more publicity for Swift, but many believe that the NFL keeps putting the Eagles and the Chiefs together because Kelce’s brother Jason played for the Eagles and it adds to the script they have crafted.
However, when watching the games, there are things that one can point to such as a ball bouncing off a player’s helmet as evidence that the games are not scripted. To those who believe that the theory is not true, they say that the NFL “sends the script and the players read and rehearse it all week.”
For this upcoming Super Bowl, they believe the Chiefs will win the game again all for a publicity stunt. What do you think, is the NFL scripted?
