In this week’s crime blotter, we have continued vehicle thefts and break-ins in the neighborhood around CUA’s campus. Crime continues to be lower than average citywide, but the District has seen significantly more homicides year-to-date compared to last year. Fortunately, no homicides have occurred in the area around campus this year so far.
February 4
- Theft: 100 bl. Michigan Ave., NE (12:31 p.m.)
- Theft: 300 bl. Taylor St., NE (1:00 p.m.)
- Motor Vehicle Theft: 3800 bl. 8th St., NE (9:20 a.m.)
- Delayed Report: Theft from Auto: 400 bl. Michigan Ave., NE (occurred on Jan. 31)
February 5
- Theft: 600 bl. Michigan Ave., NE (10:58 a.m.)
- Disorderly/Resisting: Brookland-CUA Metro Station. Subject was arrested by MTPD for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest (9:30 p.m.)
February 6
- Motor Vehicle Theft: 900 bl Girard St., NE (10:10 p.m.)
- Motor Vehicle Theft: 3900 bl. 12th St., NE (11:30 a.m.)
- Theft: 300 bl. Taylor St., NE
February 7
- Burglary of Business: 3700 bl. 10th St., NE (5:34 a.m.)
- Burglary of Business: 200 bl. Michigan Ave., NE (5:30 a.m.). The Metropolitan Police have posted video of suspects in this case; anyone who may recognize them or have information should contact police at 202-727-9099.
- Assault: 600 bl. Girard St., NE. 42-year old Tamika Butler was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and has pleaded not guilty (2:30 a.m.).
- Destruction of Property: Monroe St., NE and 7th St., NE. 22-year old Michael Cheeks was arrested and charged with Destruction of Property (6:15 p.m.)
February 8
- Motor Vehicle Theft: 3200 bl. 7th St., NE (1:15 a.m.)
February 9
- None.
February 10
- Assault: 4500 bl. Fort Totten Dr., NE. 25-year old Yoni Estaurdo Perez was arrested and charged with Simple Assault (7:17 p.m.)
