This week saw a rise in property crimes near campus, primarily driven by a large number of car break-ins in the area of campus, especially to the west of the DuFour Center area.

Crimes near campus, October 8-14

October 8

Theft: 1000 bl. Perry St., NE
Theft: 1200 bl. Perry St., NE
Gun Offense: Fort Dr., NE, and North Capitol St., NE. (4:25 p.m.). Court records show that police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with illegal window tint and found a shotgun and handgun, as well as multiple large capacity magazines and over 100 rounds of ammunition, in the vehicle. 28-year old Carerra Solomon was arrested and charged with Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun Outside of a Home or Business, Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. He was also cited for Failure to Secure DC Tags and Violation of Tinted Window Regulations.

Motor Vehicle Theft: 900 bl. Irving St., NE (11:53 a.m.)

October 10

Domestic Violence: 3000 bl. 4th St., NE. 54-year old Stephanie Crosson was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Attempted Second Degree Cruelty to Children.

Gun Offense: 4400 bl. Clermont Drive, NE. 27-year old Benjamin Ashe was arrested and charged with Carrying a Pistol (9:18 p.m.)
Theft: 3800 bl. 12th St, NE

Assault: 4000 bl. 9th St, NE. 72-year old Gloria Coles was arrested and charged with Simple Assault (8:50 p.m.)
Threats: 3200 bl. 8th St, NE. 32-year old Tyrone Wade was arrested and charged with Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person (5:50 a.m.)
