October 22-28 Crime Blotter: Multiple Armed Robberies in Brookland

The beginning of this week saw two armed robberies in the area of campus, one on October 22 and one in the early hours of October 24. 

The Metropolitan Police Department announced that, before this report’s period, on October 16, 20-year old Tevin Smith, of Washington, D.C., was arrested in the 1000 block of Urell Pl., NE, and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, following an investigation.

October 22

  • Armed Robbery: 3200 bl. 8th St., NE (9:39 p.m.). Three suspects robbed the victim of their wallet, phone, and electric scooter at gunpoint. They were described as three teenage Black males in ski masks driving a gray 4-door sedan.
  • Reckless Driving: 4600 bl. North Capitol St., NE. 22-year old Kimberly Xirum Cumar was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving.

October 23

  • Theft: 1000 bl. Newton St., NE
  • Theft: 300 bl. Hawaii Ave., NE

October 24

  • Theft from Business: 3600 bl. 12th St., NE (1:59 p.m.)
  • Armed Robbery: 200 bl. Michigan Ave., NE. Four suspects robbed the victim at gunpoint, taking their phone, wallet, and other possessions. No suspect description was available (12:30 a.m.).

October 25

  • Motor Vehicle Theft: 1300 bl. Kearny St., NE (4:56 p.m.)
  • Motor Vehicle Theft: 600 bl. Monroe St., NE

  • None

October 27

  • Theft: 300 bl. Hawaii Ave., NE (11:02 a.m.)

October 28

  • Disorderly Conduct: 100 bl. Michigan Ave., NE. 34-year old Andrea Waldo and 29-year old Jarhea Carter were arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
  • Theft From Auto: 400 bl. Michigan Ave., NE (11:30 a.m.)
