12 Years Ago – October 2, 2009; Volume 87, Issue 5
- This issue features an article that speaks on Hispanic struggles with academics and jobs in Washington DC. People in the Hispanic community do not always fit the stereotype of not being successful in careers, but the University has provided comfort and education to those Hispanics who sought it.
- A printer server that costs around $3,000 was stolen, according to this article. The theft was discovered when students and staff had difficulty printing their assignments and/or materials. The article describes the difficulties this caused for the students of the School of Architecture.
41 Years Ago – October 10, 1980; Volume 59, Issue 6
- This advertisement for a movie, Private Benjamin, is shown, which points out that it was released on October 10, 1980, and is rated R.
- The Presidential candidates for the 1980 Presidential Election were facing backlash on their takes on family, abortion, drugs, homosexuality, and other moral issues.
64 Years Ago – September 21, 1957; Volume 36, Issue 1
- A section of this issue includes a set of rules that all Catholic University freshmen had to follow. Some of these rules include wearing dinks and badges and referring to upperclassmen as “sir” or “ma’am.”
- There is a welcome message for the freshmen that provides general advice for those who are at the university for the first time, as well as what they should expect so they can succeed in their freshman year.
97 Years Ago – November 19, 1924; Volume 3, Issue 1
- This article mentions how there has been a dedicatory event for the new CUA stadium. This event was very important, since there was a celebration attended by several important individuals, including the Archbishop of Baltimore, the Apostolic Delegate, the British Ambassador, and others.
- The Sports section of this issue features an article covering the game between Holy Cross and CUA’s varsity teams. Catholic U almost lost the game; the score was 7-13. It also lists the touchdowns and the substitutions.
