Hope you had a great week, Cards! Welcome to Edition 2 of This Week at CUA, a short news brief catching you up on the highlights of September 8 to September 14.
The class of 2022 gathered on Friday for Program Board’s senior kickoff, to celebrate the beginning of their final year at Catholic.
This Saturday was the 20th anniversary of 9/11/2001, which was marked at Catholic by a solemn weekend of remembrance, through both a ceremony featuring the on-campus military groups and political groups, as well as a memorial, planting American flags across the Pryz lawn.
The campus was a little quieter this weekend, as freshmen and ministers traveled to North East, Md. to participate in Freshman Retreat, a weekend of faith and community building. On Tuesday, PEERS and Counseling Center employees set up booths on the Pryz lawn this week to promote mental health during the annual Fresh Check Day.
Field Hockey, Women’s Volleyball, Women’s and Men’s Soccer all earned wins at games this weekend. Cross country also showed out, achieving their second top-three finish in the Landmark Championship.
Catholic U’s fellow D.C. college Howard University fell victim to a ransomware attack that knocked out their WiFi, Blackboard, and E-mail systems. They resumed in-person and online classes on September 13.
Catholic suffered their own technological issues on Monday, when campus Wifi connection failed, due to unknown cause.
Temperatures heated back up after a brief respite, hitting highs in the 90°s.
That’s all for this week.
