Dear friends at CUA,
As many of us are embarking from college, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of the future and the nostalgia of the past.
But whatever you do, don’t miss me.
Of course, there are great memories we’ve had and time shared, but if you miss me, you are forgetting something important. The greatest gift that I hope I’ve given you since we’ve been here is love. Whether it was mediated by staying up late talking in Leahy and not actually doing homework, sharing a laugh about some teacher’s weird habits, arguing about whose turn it is to get toilet paper from the RHO, playing music disturbingly loud in the middle of CV at night, the occasional “hey” walking through the Pryz, or kicking it in front of the Basilica, know that I love you.
The greatest lesson we’ve learned at CUA is that all love comes from the same source. So any love you have with others in the future comes from the same love that we shared. In this way, I could never be away from you really. People will come and go in your life, but those who you’ve loved you can choose to keep with you forever.
Don’t miss the friends you’ve made here because they’ve moved far away. Love others everyday and you’ll be just as close as you ever were. Do this, and if one day our paths cross again, our lives won’t even skip a beat.
Until then,
The Class of 2016
